JGA’s 16-18s Study Programme is an in-person, DfE-funded training course that helps young people who are not yet ready for work, an apprenticeship or full-time academic study to gain skills, qualifications and work experience. The programme runs September to July (flexible starts available until January) and is delivered in small groups with 1-2-1 support across JGA centres in Dartford, Gravesend, Maidstone and Medway.
Learners follow one of three pathways (Employability, Health & Social Care, or Sports) and study maths and English functional skills up to GCSE-equivalent (Level 2). The Employability pathway includes an NCFE Level 2 certificate and over 100 hours of work experience with local employers; Health & Social Care and Sports pathways offer NCFE/CACHE level qualifications with practical placements.
Successful learners can progress to college, apprenticeships, a second year of study, or employment.
Level 2 (GCSE-equivalent) or Level 3 (A-level-equivalent) qualifications. Specific awards include NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills; NCFE CACHE Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates in Health and Social Care; NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sport.
