This is a 4-year degree apprenticeship with Thales based in Cheadle (Stockport) combining paid, on-the-job engineering work with university study. You will be employed as an Engineering Apprentice working primarily within the Manufacturing function, contributing to delivery of sonar systems and equipment and gaining hands-on experience across design, test, integration and potential site visits.

You will be enrolled onto the Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Programme at the University of Warwick (Manufacturing Engineer pathway). The programme is delivered via blended learning (six block weeks on campus per year plus virtual coaching and online resources) so you’ll combine practical work at Thales with academic study over the four-year programme.

Essential requirements include GCSEs (5 including Maths and English grade 9-4) and A-levels (Maths and a further STEM subject, grade B). All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to meet security vetting (BPSS and full SC) prior to starting.

The role includes standard employee benefits and health insurance contributions.

  • To be eligible for full SC you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years
  • Apprenticeship can be adjusted for other relevant qualifications and industry experience
You'll Earn

£24,000 per year

Pay & Benefits

£24,000 a year. Performance related pay uplifts. Pension - Thales match, plus 1% with maximum contribution of 7%. Health insurance - 50% of salary for 5 years. Additional company benefits include 201 hours annual leave (plus a company day and bank holidays), Health Care Cash Plan, Life Insurance, Discount Portal and volunteering hours.
