2026! Volvo Trucks Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

This is a level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician apprenticeship with Volvo Truck & Bus based at Worton Grange (RG2 0TG), Reading. The programme combines on-the-job training at the Volvo workshop with block-release training at Remit’s Automotive/Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby.

Day-to-day duties include assisting with repairs, fault diagnosis, using Volvo special tools, parts handling and ensuring workshop procedures and safety standards are followed.

The apprenticeship is full-time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm) and runs for approximately 32 months with 16 (described alternatively as 18 in some sections) block-release weeks across the programme. Training includes practical workshop experience, technical training, and the opportunity to gain IMI Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 plus Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths if required.

Employer-provided tools and PPE are supplied on starting the role.

Block-release training costs for hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer, so there will be no cost to the apprentice. Applicants should hold the required GCSEs and demonstrate mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn; interviews may start as early as March 2026.
