21st Century Energy Transition: how do we make it work?

This short online course from the University of Alberta (in collaboration with the Canadian Society for Evolving Energy) explores the global challenges and practical pathways of the 21st century energy transition. Over six modules the course surveys major energy sources (fossil fuels, nuclear, hydro, wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, wave/tidal), energy storage technologies (including hydrogen), supply chains, and policy and economic considerations that affect how societies move toward lower-impact energy systems.

The course is delivered as a flexible, self-paced MOOC on Coursera. All six modules are available for free to audit; learners can upgrade to a paid Coursera certificate to access end-of-module exams and receive a shareable credential.

The platform lists a recommended completion time of 2 weeks at about 10 hours per week.
