Want to push your A‑level maths from strong to outstanding? Join the mA*ths Online Programme to explore advanced topics, get one-to-one mentoring from current Manchester students, attend campus masterclasses and boost your uni and career prospects.
The mA*ths Online Programme at The University of Manchester is an outreach programme for A-level Mathematics students aimed at supporting those with the potential to achieve A/A* in A-level Maths. It is delivered in collaboration with Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI) and Imperial College London, and combines online study with tailored mentoring and face-to-face masterclasses on the University of Manchester campus.
Participants receive online mentoring from current University of Manchester students and take part in two structured Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) focused on challenging A-level topics, with practice questions and assessments to track progress. The programme also includes one-day introductory masterclasses (on campus) to meet mentors and one-day closing masterclasses to consolidate learning and prepare for final A-level examinations.
The programme targets pupils from communities underrepresented in higher education and is restricted to applicants from eligible north west postcodes. Applications for Year 12 programmes are open via the application link; applications for the Year 13 programme are marked as closed on the page.

Location
- Be in the correct year group for the programme you are applying for in the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Have a home postcode in the north west (eligible postcode areas listed on the page, e.g., M, L, BB, BD, BL, CA, CW, FY, LA, OL, PR, SK, WA, WN).
- Have passed eight GCSEs.
- Have achieved grade 7 to 9 for six GCSEs, including GCSE Maths and Science (proof will be requested in the application form).
- Believe that, with the additional learning provided by this programme, you are capable of achieving Grade A or A* in A‑level Maths.
- Programme is targeted at pupils from communities underrepresented in higher education, including those with a POLAR4 Q1 postcode, attending schools with an Index Multiple of Deprivation flag, young carers, refugees or asylum seekers, care‑experienced students (lived in care for three months or more), students whose parents/carers do not hold an undergraduate degree, and students receiving pupil premium/free school meals.
