Ready to level up your music? Join Chetham’s Summer School for an intensive week of residential and day courses—orchestral, piano, singing or jazz—rehearse with top peers, perform at Stoller Hall and sharpen skills that boost your uni or career profile.
Chetham’s Summer School is a week-long residential and day music programme for young instrumentalists, pianists, singers and jazz musicians. It takes place at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, with final performances at Stoller Hall, and is designed to bring together talented young musicians from across the UK and around the world for an intensive and memorable summer experience.
Participants can choose from four courses: orchestral, piano, singing and performance, and jazz and improvisation. Each day includes technique and repertoire classes, ensemble rehearsals, creative workshops, and time to practise in specialist facilities.
The programme also includes social activities such as movie nights, crafting and play time, alongside performance opportunities in final concerts. The school offers both residential and non-residential options.
Residential participants stay on site and receive accommodation and meals, while day students attend each day and stay locally. Teaching is provided by Chetham’s faculty and professional musicians, with personalised guidance in small groups and a supportive creative community.

Location
- Aged 11-17 at the time of the course.
- Aged 13-17 at the time of the course for vocalists.
- Instrumentalists must be playing at ABRSM Grade 4 level or above.
- No formal grades are required for vocalists.
£1,200
Residential places cost £1,300 and include all tutoring, lessons and masterclasses, all social activities, accommodation on site, participation in the final concerts and two family tickets, and three meals a day. Non-residential places cost £1,200 and include all tutoring, lessons and masterclasses, all social activities, participation in the final concerts and two family tickets, and two meals a day. Breakfast for non-residential students is available at £5 per day. Discounts are available for siblings attending together and for existing Chetham’s students.
