This is a 2-year, paid apprenticeship with Chandlers (Farm Equipment) Ltd leading to an industry-recognised Level 2 land-based service engineer qualification. Apprentices are employed and work primarily in Chandlers workshops and on-site at farms, gaining hands-on experience servicing, diagnosing and repairing advanced agricultural machinery.
The role pays £16,224 a year and includes employer benefits such as enhanced overtime (for 18+), a new starter loan toolkit, a company Chromebook, and free on-site parking. On-the-job learning makes up most of the apprenticeship, with an expected training pattern of four days in the workplace and one day of off-the-job learning at Bishop Burton College.
Coursework covers mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repair activities, diagnostic tools and ICT systems, pre-delivery inspections, assembly and maintaining service and warranty records. Apprentices will shadow senior technicians and carry out practical duties including preparation, installation, fault diagnosis and complex repairs.
Applicants must hold GCSEs (or equivalents) in English and Maths at grade 4/C (and two additional subjects). The vacancy is available at multiple rural locations (Horncastle; Belton/Grantham; Moulton/Spalding; Spilsby) and candidates must ensure they can travel to the employer and training provider.
The apprenticeship starts on 9 March 2026.
