Optical Assistant Apprenticeship - Ryde Specsavers

Specsavers is recruiting an Optical Assistant apprentice at its Ryde store. This is a full-time, hands-on apprenticeship where most learning takes place on the job in-store. Day-to-day duties include greeting customers, booking eye tests, pre-screening patients, measuring and fitting frames, processing orders and payments, and assisting with optical product selection and aftercare.

You will work as part of the store team and support customer care, appointment management and basic clinical screening tasks. The apprenticeship includes structured workplace training provided by Specsavers Optical Superstores Limited and leads to a Level 3 Optical Assistant qualification (Optical assistant 2022).

The programme includes Level 2 Functional Skills in English if required and an End-Point Assessment. The role is full-time (40 hours per week, including weekend working as required) and the stated start date is Friday 27 February 2026.

Duration of the apprenticeship is 1 year 6 months. Applicants must have GCSE Maths (grade 4/C or above) and must not already hold a qualification at or above this apprenticeship level in the sector. Candidates should be able to travel to 39 High Street, Ryde (PO33 2HT) daily.
