Tesco Apprenticeships offer paid, work-based programmes across retail, maintenance and finance that combine on-the-job experience with study towards nationally recognised qualifications. Apprentices work on live projects in stores, distribution centres or the Welwyn Garden City head office, supported by a programme manager, mentor and buddy, and receive paid time to study alongside their role.
Programmes vary in length and level: the Stronger Starts Retail apprenticeship is a minimum 12-month programme aimed at school leavers, the Stronger Starts Maintenance apprenticeship is an 18-month programme leading to a Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative qualification, and the Level 4 Finance Apprenticeship is a two-year programme leading to a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Professional Accounting.
Pay and benefits are provided (see remuneration), and apprentices receive holiday entitlement and access to Tesco employee benefits and pension contributions. Start dates are cohort-based (Finance and Retail typically start in September; Maintenance has an August induction and autumn programme start).
Applications open in Autumn 2025 and are accepted on a rolling basis; some programmes may be closed at times and will reopen for future intakes.

Stronger Starts Retail: Starting salary of £23,662.08 (pro rata). Stronger Starts Maintenance: £25,900.00 (pro rata £23,060.96). Level 4 Finance Apprenticeship: £23,000. Apprentices are eligible for holiday entitlement, bonus payments (dependent on business and individual performance), pension contributions (employer match up to 7.5%), and other employee benefits and discounts after qualifying periods.
