This is a full-time onshore Wind Turbine Service Technician apprenticeship with Siemens Gamesa. Apprentices will work toward a Level 3 Maintenance Operations & Engineering Technician qualification and receive industry-standard safety and practical training.
In year one your primary base will be at the partner training provider in Scunthorpe for general electrical and mechanical training, with years two and three focused on hands-on learning with the service team at your recruited site. As a service technician apprentice you will learn to carry out ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and troubleshooting inside wind turbines, perform predefined technical tasks (component integration, basic engineering and maintenance), and support customers both remotely and onsite.
You will be trained to troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components and to complete required safety and quality documentation while following company safety procedures. Successful applicants will be offered an initial 42-month fixed-term contract subject to assessments (Working at Heights), medical/fitness checks, and validation of right-to-work and qualifications.
The role is site-based at Goole or Newcastle upon Tyne, requires willingness to work shifts and to travel to the assigned site.
