Join Ford as an Advanced Engineering Apprentice (Prototype Mechanic) and gain hands-on experience across prototype testing, machining, sheet metal fabrication and basic electronic circuits. As an apprentice you will work on-site at Ford’s research & development facilities, rotating through engineering departments and contributing to early concept design and vehicle launch preparation while being mentored by skilled teams.
This apprenticeship runs for 4 years and starts on 14 September 2026. The role is Monday to Friday, 8. 15am-4.
15pm (37 hours 30 minutes per week) and is based at Ford’s Dunton/Laindon facilities (Arterial Road, Laindon, Essex, SS15 6EE). Training is delivered in partnership with Skillnet Limited and leads to Engineering Technician (Level 3) status, including Level 2 & Level 3 Diplomas in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and an End Point Assessment (EPA).
