Volvo Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

This is a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician apprenticeship with Volvo Truck & Bus based at Kingstown Industrial Estate, Carlisle (CA3 0HA). Apprentices will work on the job to learn how to diagnose faults, service, maintain and repair large commercial vehicles (trucks, buses and coaches) to manufacturer and DVSA standards.

Day-to-day duties include servicing, repairs, MOT preparation and using diagnostic equipment, with mentoring from experienced technicians. Training combines practical workplace learning, online study and block-release attendance at the Volvo Training Academy in Derby.

The programme runs for 32 months (16 x 1-week blocks at the academy) and includes IMI Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualifications. On starting you will be provided with full equipment and tools, and employer-covered travel, hotel and catering for block-release sessions.

Essential entry requirements include GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade 4/C. The role is full-time (40 hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm). The apprenticeship aims to develop technicians able to progress into diagnostics, master technician roles or leadership positions within Volvo and the wider industry.
