Medicine Scholars is a one-week summer school for 12-14-year-olds hosted by Oxford Summer Courses at Harrow School. The programme combines interactive, task-based teaching with hands-on activities, experiments, guided project work and subject-linked excursions to explore how the body works, how diseases are diagnosed and treated, and how medical discoveries shape healthcare.
Classes are small (maximum 15 students) and tutors tailor content to the group's interests. Each weekday includes two extended morning lessons in small, discussion-led groups and afternoon project work, supervised study time and excursions.
Students experience structured evening socials and 24/7 pastoral support from trained staff. The course offers both residential and non-residential (day) options, with different inclusions depending on the package.
All participants receive a certificate of achievement and written tutor feedback on completion. The programme is delivered in English and welcomes applicants without formal entry requirements who are curious about medicine and health science.
Families apply via the Oxford Summer Courses website using the course's Apply link; places are limited and early booking is advised.
