Join Queen Mary’s School of Mathematical Sciences for a Girls in Maths taster day designed for Year 12 and Year 13 students who identify as female and/or non-binary and who are currently studying A-level Maths. The event offers a taste of university-level mathematics and an opportunity to explore the subject and campus life at Queen Mary.
The programme includes taster lectures and interactive activities led by academic staff, including Professor Claudia Garetto on the hidden history of mathematics and Dr Katy Clough on gravity and astrophysical black holes. Participants will be able to ask questions inspired by science fiction topics such as wormholes and time travel, and will have opportunities to chat with current students and society representatives.
Attendees will also take a guided campus tour and enjoy refreshments provided on the day. To book a place, register via the online booking form (link on the event page) or contact the outreach team at maths-outreach@qmul.
