The British Science Week Poster Competition is an annual, UK-wide competition inviting children and young people to create posters based on a fresh theme each year. For 2026 the competition explores visions of a good/positive childhood in the future, with work developed by participants in early years, primary and secondary/senior categories.
Entries are submitted online via the competition submission platform and settings may submit up to five posters. All submitted posters will be considered by a judging panel and used (anonymised) for research by the British Science Association and the NUSTEM team at Northumbria University alongside the Government Office for Science.
Teachers, group leaders or submitters will be asked to tag posters with up to three theme tags to support researchers. Shortlisted posters may be published and winners will receive STEM-themed prizes; runners-up may be selected by public vote.
Key rules: posters must be original, A4 or A3, submitted as a 2D image (photo, jpeg or PDF), and entrants must provide names and ages. The competition accepts entries from individuals, teams and settings across the UK and includes detailed briefs and terms & conditions for each age category.
