IgnitED Summer Careers Programme at the University of Brighton

IgnitED’s Summer Careers Programme at the University of Brighton is a five-day experience for young people aged 14–17 who want a practical introduction to future pathways and a taste of university life. It is designed to build confidence, broaden horizons, and help participants think about what comes next after school.

Across the week, students take part in practical workshops, employer visits, and industry-led mentoring sessions. The programme combines hands-on learning with real-world career insights, giving participants the chance to explore different routes, develop useful skills, and meet peers with similar interests.

It is delivered in a supportive setting with trained staff and safeguarding procedures in place. Most of the programme takes place on the University of Brighton’s Falmer campus, with one day dedicated to visits to local employers and industry settings.

Supervised accommodation options are available for some participants who cannot commute daily, and a residential option is also available at the University of Portsmouth for a fully immersive experience.
