Want to build real change in Ghana? Join Projects Abroad in the Akuapem Hills to learn hands-on construction—mud bricks, foundations, plastering—while renovating schools and homes. Gain practical skills, local mentoring and a meaningful boost for uni or career prospects.

Projects Abroadb9s Building Volunteer Work in Ghana places volunteers in the Akuapem Hills to help construct and renovate community infrastructure such as classrooms, toilet blocks, libraries and homes. Volunteers learn hands-on building techniques from local masons and supervisors, including making mud bricks, laying foundations, plastering, painting and landscaping.

No prior experience is required as on-site training and supervision are provided. The placement is fully supervised and runs year-round; you can choose your start date and stay for as little as one week (longer stays are encouraged to see more impact).

Volunteers live with local host families, receive three meals a day, airport pick-up and drop-off, transport to and from placement, access to local office facilities and 24-hour in-country support. The programme emphasises cultural exchange and community impact, and includes training, social activities and a certificate on completion.

This opportunity suits anyone aged 16+ who wants practical construction experience while volunteering abroad and contributing to long-term community improvements. Flights, travel and medical insurance, and visa costs are not included; a £195 deposit is required to secure a place.
