Want to level up your English this August? Join Mr Burkes Classroom Summer School for small-group, August courses—Voices of the Caribbean for KS3 and GCSE head-starts for Year 10/11. Build reading, writing and analysis skills, boost exam confidence and connect with expert tutors.

Mr Burkes Classroom Summer School is a small-group August English programme with three separate strands for upper KS3, Year 10, and Year 11 students. The KS3 course, titled Voices of the Caribbean, focuses on identity, culture, history, and close reading through Caribbean poetry, memoir, and non-fiction.

The Year 10 and Year 11 courses are GCSE English Language head-start and exam-boost programmes designed to strengthen reading, writing, comparison, and analysis skills. Across all three strands, students work in very small groups of up to six and complete eight 75-minute sessions over four weeks.

The teaching is highly structured and exam-focused, with activities such as language analysis, structural analysis, creative writing, persuasive writing, timed practice, and live marking walkthroughs. The Year 11 course is the most intensive, aiming to push students towards top GCSE grades through advanced technique and exam strategy.

The full course fee is £150. Interested families register online, after which Mr Burke contacts them within 72 hours for a short telephone consultation to confirm the most suitable class before places are finalised.
