World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is a global robotics competition where student teams design, build and program robots. The competition is organised across four main categories - RoboMission, RoboSports, Future Innovators and Future Engineers - each with age-banded entry points so students can take part at an appropriate level.
Teams usually work in groups of 2-3 and compete with the support of an adult coach. Students enter through a participating member country, first taking part in national rounds before the strongest teams move on to the international final.
Along the way, participants gain practical experience in robotics, coding and engineering, while also developing problem-solving skills, teamwork and international awareness.
- Students aged approximately 8-19 are eligible in the main categories.
- Future Engineers is open to students up to age 22.
- Teams must consist of 2-3 students.
- Each team must have one adult coach.
- Entrants must compete through a participating member country.
