Want to kickstart your art journey this summer? Join City Lit’s Pre-Foundation intensive to build sketchbook, drawing, painting and 3D skills, create a strong digital and physical portfolio, and prepare for progression to the UAL-validated Foundation Diploma.

This intensive pre-foundation course is designed to help you build the creative skills, methods and confidence needed for progression to City Lit’s UAL-validated Foundation Diploma in Art & Design. It focuses on practical development across drawing, painting, sketchbook work, conceptual thinking, 3D and sculpture, and supports learners in developing a portfolio of digital and traditional work.

You will work through workshops, creative exercises, project briefs, talks, seminars, tutorials and visits to museums and galleries. The course is taught by practising artist-educators, designers and theorists, giving you insight into contemporary creative practice while helping you build a strong body of work for further study.

By the end of the course, you should be able to apply observational and expressive drawing techniques, produce work in a range of materials, analyse the work of artists and designers, and present a creative portfolio. The course is based at City Lit’s Keeley Street site in London and runs over 8 sessions across 4 weeks on a Tuesday-Wednesday daytime schedule.
