Curious how chemistry shapes medicine, industry and everyday life? Join Education in Action's Chemistry in Action workshop to explore real research, connect with scientists, build exam-ready skills and boost your KS5 understanding through interactive sessions and practical revision tools.

Chemistry in Action is a study day for KS5 chemistry students, bringing together experienced scientists from academia and industry to share ideas, research and real-world applications of chemistry. The programme is designed to deepen students’ understanding of the subject and spark curiosity about how chemistry connects to medicine, industry and everyday life.

The day includes a special exam success session to give students practical tools and revision tips, alongside interactive polls and the chance to ask questions directly to the speakers. Live experiments are also part of the experience, making the event both informative and engaging for classes attending together.

Topics in the programme include how small chemical changes can transform medicines, with discussion of isomerism, solubility and how medicines work. The event is hosted by Dr Alex Baker, with an exam session led by Dr Peter Hoare from Newcastle University.
