Biology in Action is a study day in Manchester for KS5 biology students. It brings together top scientists and professionals from across the field of biology to share their expertise, discuss current scientific issues and explore cutting-edge research.
The programme is designed to make biology feel relevant, exciting and connected to real-world scientific work. The day includes a special session on exam success, giving students practical tools and tips to help them do well in their biology studies.
There are also interactive polls, personal anecdotes and opportunities to ask questions directly to the speakers, making the event engaging as well as informative. The programme covers topics including astrobiology and the search for alien life, marine biology and ocean ecosystems, genetics and human evolution, genomics in healthcare, and the dilemmas of modern conservation.
The event is hosted by Helen Pilcher, with an exam session led by Leah McClure.
