Seamus Heaney HomePlace runs an A-Level (Key Stage 5) lecture series combining an exhibition tour, a specialist lecture and a facilitated seminar. Lectures are delivered by experienced academics and practitioners (including Prof Fran Brearton, Dr Frank Ferguson and Mrs Shelagh O’Brien) and are designed around poems on the A-Level syllabus.
Seminars that follow each lecture are facilitated by PhD students from Queen’s University and Ulster University and explore key themes through comparative readings of poems set for AS/A-Level. The programme includes at least one lecture day focused on the WJEC specification (Heaney and Owen Sheers).
Sessions are suitable for AS Level pupils and are delivered as a full day visit to HomePlace.
Bookings are confirmed when the completed booking form is returned to the Education Officer. Pupils should bring writing materials; please state any additional learning needs, access requirements or food allergies when booking.
Price is £12 per pupil and includes the exhibition tour and a light lunch.
