This is a Level 3 AAT apprenticeship based at Northumbria University, offering a mix of on-the-job experience and formal training delivered with Kaplan. As an Apprentice Accounts Assistant you will work primarily within Finance Shared Services, gaining experience across financial and management accounts, credit control and procurement while completing the Advanced Diploma (AAT Level 3).

Day-to-day duties include processing accounting transactions, producing regular financial reports, assisting with budget and statutory accounts preparation, reconciling financial data, and handling transactional queries. The role requires strong numeracy, IT and communication skills and offers structured specialist training time away from the workplace as part of the apprenticeship programme.

The apprenticeship starts 1 January 2026, runs for 1 year 6 months, and is based at the Sutherland Building, Newcastle Upon Tyne (Northumbria University campuses). The post is full-time (37 hours per week) and paid at £23,492 per year.
