Advanced Writing is an online, self-paced course offered by the University of California, Irvine via Coursera that focuses on developing college-level academic writing skills. The course (Course 3 of the Academic English: Writing Specialization) teaches students to plan and write more sophisticated argument essays, identify and avoid plagiarism using MLA conventions, read and synthesize multiple articles, form thesis statements, and use outside sources effectively.
