This Level 6 integrated Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship at University Centre Weston combines academic learning with workplace-based training to prepare apprentices for professional roles in the aerospace sector. The curriculum covers aeronautical principles, aerospace mathematics, materials and manufacturing, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, propulsion and integrated electro-mechanical systems, with project-based modules each year to build practical engineering skills and professional practice.
Apprentices follow a four-year full-time programme aligned with IfATE Standard ST0010 and Engineering Council expectations, including an end-point assessment in Year 4. Learning emphasises multidisciplinary teamwork, industry-relevant projects, engineering analysis, design, testing, compliance and professional development to manage performance, risk and regulatory requirements across the aerospace product lifecycle.
Typical entry expectations are set by employers (see eligibility criteria). Apprenticeships are employer-led: if a business has an annual payroll in excess of A33 million it will usually fund the apprenticeship through Apprenticeship Levy contributions; non-levy payers may pay up to 5% of the cost.
Start date for this course is listed as September 2026 and delivery is in partnership with industry and partner institutions.
