Work behind the scenes in a donation sorting area, preparing donated clothes, books, toys and bric-a-brac for sale. You’ll identify saleable items, attach Gift Aid labels where needed and help products look their best, with full training provided.
Age UK East Sussex is looking for volunteers to join the Battle Shop stock team and help with the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the store running. The role is based in the donation sorting area rather than on the shop floor, where volunteers help process, prepare and price donated items before they are placed out for sale.
Tasks include sorting clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, games and other donations, identifying items suitable for sale, attaching Gift Aid labels where needed, and helping to make products look their best. Volunteers with knowledge of particular areas such as clothing, books or antiques may be able to use those skills to help the team get the best value from items.
The charity says no special skills are needed, as full training is provided. It is a flexible volunteering opportunity, though they would ideally like volunteers to commit to at least one shift a week, usually around three hours.
Current volunteering times include Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday mornings and all day Sundays.
