Want to shape your city's story and challenge racism? Join a free summer school at Manchester Central Library to explore archives, local history and anti‑racism, and build creative skills through poetry, comics, zines and badge‑making.
The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre is running its first summer school for 15-19 year olds at Manchester Central Library. The programme brings together young people for a series of free sessions focused on anti-racism, archive collections, local history, and creative expression.
Across the summer school, participants can join different workshops and choose the sessions most relevant to their interests. Activities include poetry and writing, comic-making, zine-making, badge-making, and guided heritage exploration, all designed to connect archive materials with questions of identity, memory, activism, and community history.
The programme is in-person and includes food, drinks, lunch, and necessary equipment. Support with public transport costs is also available if needed, making the event more accessible for attendees who may need help getting to Manchester Central Library.
Dates from the previous cycle — new dates are announced when applications reopen.
