Work alongside medical staff at local clinics and hospitals in Samaná and Las Terrenas, gaining observation and hands-on experience in departments such as emergency, pediatric, maternity (female volunteers), nursing, diabetes and HIV prevention. Activities include observing and shadowing doctors and nurses, assisting with basic patient care, preparing and distributing medications, stocking materials, and (for experienced volunteers) supporting clinical tasks under supervision.
The programme is open to a broad range of applicants from pre-university students to medical and nursing students and professionals. Language requirements include intermediate Spanish (B1) or basic English; complimentary Spanish classes are provided to help volunteers integrate and improve communication.
Time commitment is flexible: volunteers typically commit a minimum of 4 hours daily up to 40 hours per week, with placement durations from 2 up to 50 weeks.
The fee includes arrival logistics (airport pickup and bus transfer), accommodation in guesthouses, Wi-Fi, regular Spanish lessons, local support, and a placement introduction. Food, snacks and some personal expenses are not included.
The programme runs year-round and can be tailored for interns who need specific learning outcomes or reports for academic credit.

Typical advertised average fee is 473€ per week. Fees cover airport pickup and bus transfer to placement, accommodation in volunteer guesthouses (shared or private), free Wi-Fi, laundry access, free regular Spanish lessons, placement introduction, 24/7 local support, and a certificate of completion; food and some personal expenses are not included.
