Explore drug development through staff conversations, tours and hands-on activities, with strands in science, engineering, IT and business. Science and engineering placements include Biology and Chemistry experiments at Belfast’s W5 laboratory or engineering work shadowing in Craigavon.
Almac’s work experience programme gives Sixth Form pupils an insight into life at a leading global pharmaceutical contract manufacturing and development organisation. Through tours, conversations with staff and hands-on activities, participants learn about the drug development process and the wide range of careers available at Almac, both inside and outside the laboratory.
The programme offers different strands for pupils interested in science, engineering, IT and business. Science and engineering participants follow a three-day placement, including time in the W5 laboratory in Belfast for Biology and Chemistry experiments or an engineering work shadow in Craigavon.
IT and business participants take part in two-day sessions, with IT-focused places marked on the schedule. Lunch is provided each day, and transport between Almac and W5 can be provided where required; otherwise, pupils are expected to arrange their own travel.
