Join Amazon's Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team as an Automation Engineering Apprentice on a 48-month fixed-term programme combining practical, on-the-job experience with industry-recognised study. You will work hands-on with advanced automation systems including autonomous robots, conveyor and sortation equipment, robotic arms, sensors, predictive maintenance systems and industrial automation controls.

Day-to-day responsibilities include maintenance and fault-finding on automated systems, using diagnostic tools, planning preventative maintenance and collaborating with engineers on process improvements.

The programme leads to a Level 6 Control Technical Support Apprenticeship. The first 12 months are a full-time residential programme delivered either at external training provider facilities or Amazon training centres; accommodation and travel support are provided for those living outside a commutable distance.

In later years you will undertake on-the-job training while working towards a BSc in Controls and Automation Engineering and an HNC/D in Electrical/Controls Engineering.

Apprentices will work shift patterns that cover days, nights and weekends to support 24/7 operations. The role offers mentorship, knowledge-sharing and exposure to industry-leading automation and machine learning applications in logistics, with opportunities to contribute to real-world engineering improvements and innovations.
