Research local issues, write press releases and help answer constituents’ queries by phone or email in an MP’s office. Depending on your age and ability, you could contribute to casework or accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or constituency.
Andrew Bowie MP offers work experience opportunities for students from the constituency who want to learn more about local politics and public service. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into the day-to-day work of an MP and to help them build useful skills in a professional office environment.
During the placement, students may support a range of tasks such as researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, and answering queries from constituents by phone or email. Depending on age and ability, they may also contribute to casework, and there may be opportunities to accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or in the constituency.
Anyone interested is asked to contact the office to enquire about work experience.
