Apply NowCurious how gaming turns into a career? Explore ARU’s Playable Worlds — join interactive sessions on game tech, creativity and design, meet industry pros, and build real skills beyond coding. Discover pathways into games, uni and careers while trying hands-on projects.
Co-created with the Spark! youth movement, Playable Worlds is a careers experience day designed to show young people how a passion for gaming can open up a range of future pathways. It brings students to ARU Chelmsford for an interactive day focused on gaming, technology, creativity, and the many roles that sit behind modern game-making.
The event is tailored for students in Years 9 to 11 and aims to help them see that the gaming industry is not only for expert coders. Students will meet local industry experts, university representatives, and Chelmsford College staff, while exploring how skills can transfer into software design, digital arts, event production, and wider STEAM industries.
The day includes hands-on technology and youth-designed activities in a festival-style setting. Schools attending should note that the event includes photography and video capture for festival reporting and evaluation, and that consent and accessibility needs must be managed by the school.
Participants are encouraged to register interest through the online form, after which the organisers will be in touch.
