This free, self-paced introduction to traditional 2D animation is a short beginner tutorial from Animationclub School designed to spark interest in hand-drawn character animation. The course is delivered as pre-recorded lectures so learners can start at any time and study at their own pace.
Total run time for the workshop is approximately 32 minutes.
Learners will be introduced to the essential tools and basic principles of 2D animation and will complete exercises to create a simple animated character (example exercises include animating a jumping cup and adding emotion/visual effects). The course lists commonly used software (TVPaint, Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, Clip Studio Paint) and recommends a drawing tablet for practical work.
Mentor: Edward Kurchevsky, an experienced 2D animator and director.
The workshop is suitable for aspiring animators and hobbyists as well as professionals seeking to refresh skills. Animationclub School generally accepts students from age 16; applicants as young as 14 may be considered individually and those under 18 require a caregiver/guardian to submit a portfolio on their behalf.
