Want to build real electronics and kickstart your career? Join ROUND BANK ENGINEERING’s Level 2 SMT Operator apprenticeship to learn programming and operation of Samsung CP/SM machines, pick-and-place and soldering, quality inspection and maintenance - gain practical skills and industry experience.
This is a Foundation Level 2 apprenticeship as an SMT Operator. You will learn to set up, operate and maintain surface mount technology (SMT) equipment to assemble electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Day-to-day tasks include configuring and programming Samsung CP and SM machines, loading components, operating pick-and-place and soldering processes, conducting visual and automated quality inspections, routine machine maintenance, and keeping production documentation.
The apprenticeship includes off-the-job training with Calderdale College (training schedule to be confirmed). Normal working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The role is based at Unit 1A, Dean Hey Business Park, Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge (HX7 5RU).
Wage for the first year is £15,704; pay may increase depending on age and will follow national minimum wage rules for apprentices. The programme lasts one year and may lead to continued employment or progression to a Level 3 apprenticeship depending on business needs and the apprentice's development.
This opportunity is open to applicants aged 16-21 (22-24 in specific circumstances listed above). No prior qualifications or experience are required; however, apprentices without a Level 2 in maths and English will be required to work towards functional skills.
