An apprenticeship opportunity with Gascoynes Accountants based in Ipswich. The successful candidate will join the accounts team to gain hands-on experience preparing year-end accounts, reconciling balance sheet accounts, assisting client managers with ledgers, and producing reports and correspondence.
Much of the role is work-based learning supported by regular training and mentoring.
Apprentices will be supported to complete the Level 3 AAT Accounts Assistant apprenticeship (Assistant accountant, level 3) through First Intuition Chelmsford. Training includes weekly study days at the nearest First Intuition centre and full support with study costs while completing the apprenticeship; continued support to complete further AAT qualifications is offered after initial completion.
Requirements include five GCSEs (including English and Maths) at grades 9-4 (A*-C); A-levels are desirable but not essential. The role is aimed at school/college leavers and will start in August 2026. The apprenticeship offers progression routes such as AAT Level 4 and/or further professional study (ACCA/ICAEW) on successful completion.

- Desirable: A Level in any subject (grade Pass).
- School/college leaver to start in August 2026; conditional offers will be made based on predicted grades.
- Position is for a Level 3 apprenticeship; a Level 2 apprenticeship will be considered if more suitable.
- Applicants must be able to travel to their nearest First Intuition centre for AAT training.
- Ability to work a c.37.5-38 hour week with overtime expected in busier periods; paid for normal working hours and apprenticeship training (usually one day per week).
£15,000 per year
£15,000 a year. The annual wage will differ between £15,500 - £17,000 depending on experience. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
