This is a Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship at the Beechwood Hotel in North Walsham. As an apprentice you will work in the hotel kitchen, learning practical cooking skills and food preparation techniques while assisting the Chef to produce a variety of dishes to a high standard.
Day-to-day duties include preparing vegetables, fish, meat and sauces; portioning and plating; maintaining hygiene and food-safety standards; stock control; and supporting menu refreshes.
The apprenticeship includes off-the-job training delivered by City College Norwich, with weekly college sessions (term-time) at the Ipswich Road campus and assessment via a knowledge test, practical culinary assessment and professional discussion. The role is a working apprenticeship with a weekly shift pattern (32 hours/week), split shifts typically 10:00-13:00 and 17:00-22:00, and an example 08:30-17:00 pattern listed by the employer.
The position starts on 1 January 2026, runs for 1 year 3 months, and may lead to a permanent role on successful completion. Applicants should note the specified GCSE requirements and consider travel arrangements for split shifts to North Walsham.

£12,563.20 to £20,317.44 per year depending on age. Paid at National Minimum Wage rates as applicable. A share in tips paid monthly.
