Le Petit Vert
Fancy turning your love of plant food into a career? Join Le Petit Vert as a Commis Chef Apprentice. Learn modern vegetarian cookery on the job, train with Nottingham College, build kitchen skills, menu development and real industry experience. Apply by 20 November.
Le Petit Vert is recruiting a Commis Chef Apprentice to join their vegetarian café and bistro in Farnsfield (Newark). The role focuses on modern vegetarian and plant-based cookery while the apprenticeship training with Nottingham College also covers classical and contemporary cooking techniques, including meat and fish, to ensure a well-rounded culinary skillset.
Most of the apprenticeship is on-the-job learning in the café: prepping, assisting with cooking, plating, stock control, menu development, and keeping high standards of food hygiene and safety. Training includes college attendance (weekly support, one day per month at Nottingham City Hub Campus), functional skills in English and maths if not already achieved, and completion of an End Point Assessment to gain the Level 2 Commis Chef qualification.
Hours vary across shifts (see listing); weekly hours are 37 hours 30 minutes.
Wage for the first year is £14,722.50 (then may increase depending on age) and there is potential for a permanent role on successful completion. The apprenticeship starts on 21 November 2025 and there is one position available.
