Pickled Pheasant is recruiting an Apprentice Commis Chef (Level 2) based at their gastro pub in Holmbridge / Huddersfield. The role is primarily on-site and involves hands-on kitchen work across multiple sections, developing core cookery skills such as knife work, ingredient selection, preparation and presentation of dishes, portion control, food safety, and basic food hygiene.
The apprenticeship includes day-to-day working in a busy 70-cover restaurant with 8 bedrooms and offers opportunities to learn from experienced chefs.
The apprenticeship starts on 30 January 2026 and runs for 1 year. You will work approximately 30 hours per week across a variety of shifts (examples given: 8:00-15:00, 12:00-18:00, 15:00-21:00) and weekend work is required.
Training is provided one day a week at Kirklees College as part of the Commis Chef Level 2 programme. The employer notes overnight accommodation is available if needed, free car parking and good bus links to the site.
Pay is £11,778 for the first year (may increase by age; national minimum wage rules for apprentices apply). Tips are paid monthly to the apprentice and occasional bonuses may be given by the owner. To apply, sign in with your GOV.
