John Crane, part of Smiths Group, is recruiting an Apprentice Engineering Design Technician to join the Design Test Equipment team at its headquarters in Slough. As an apprentice you will be trained to design test equipment for John Crane's gas seals technology and liaise with international service centres, working on practical engineering tasks and supporting operational needs.

This is a three-year apprenticeship delivered through a virtual college with practical training provided onsite by training partner Train'd Up. The programme includes full training in 2D/3D CAD, producing and maintaining technical drawings, ensuring designs meet safety and design standards, and supporting manufacturing and supplier activities.

You will also manage movement and storage of test equipment, run availability reports, support suppliers, obtain quotes, and participate in continuous improvement activities.

The role is office-based at Slough, Monday to Friday during normal office hours. Applicants should have five GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or above and some practical mechanical/engineering experience or interest.
