This is a 3-year Diagnostic Radiographer apprenticeship based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The apprentice will train within the clinical imaging department under the Diagnostic Radiographer Apprenticeship Programme and be supervised at all times by a registered practitioner.
The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide imaging services, caring for and supporting patients during imaging procedures, and participating in departmental duties under supervision.
The apprenticeship requires a 37. 5-hour working week with 20% protected study time. Apprentices are expected to attend three 5-day blocks at the University of Exeter each year and engage with tutorials, virtual learning and e-learning as instructed by the university and clinical imaging department.
Core hours in years 1 and 2 are on a rotational basis (approximately 08:45-17:00 Monday-Friday); year 3 may include out-of-hours shifts and potential weekend working as service needs evolve.
The post is based at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site (with opportunities to experience specialist imaging modalities at other trusts during training). Apprentices must commit to both workplace and academic study, follow Trust policies and safety regulations (including IR(ME)R and Health & Safety), and participate in professional development reviews and mandatory trust training.
