Apprentice Services Assistant

West End Pharmacy is recruiting an Apprentice Services Assistant to join their small team in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role is a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant apprenticeship combining on-the-job learning with off-the-job training provided by CAVITY DENTAL TRAINING LIMITED.

Activities include dispensing medication, over-the-counter sales, checking prescription slips, labelling and data entry, use of patient record systems, stock rotation and liaison with healthcare professionals.

The apprenticeship starts Monday 24 November 2025, runs for 1 year 3 months, and is typically 40 hours per week with shifts Monday to Saturday (a weekday day off given after Saturday work). Training includes the Pharmacy Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, optional GPhC-accredited Medicine Counter Assistant course, in-house training and an End-Point Assessment.

The role may lead to progression to Pharmacy Technician Level 3 apprenticeship or a permanent position.

Wage for the first year is £15,704 (may increase depending on age) and follows National Minimum Wage rules for apprentices. Essential entry requirements specified are GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4/C.
