Apprentice Teaching Assistant

This is a Level 3 Apprentice Teaching Assistant position at Newhouse Academy in Heywood, Lancashire. The role is term-time only (32 hours 30 minutes per week) with typical hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm and includes three training days.

The apprenticeship combines on-the-job learning with study through the named training provider, Rochdale Training Association Limited.

Day-to-day duties include supporting teachers to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities, promoting independence, supporting literacy and numeracy development, preparing learning environments and resources, contributing to pupils' physical, social and emotional development, and supporting bilingual/multilingual students and those with special educational needs. Apprentices will also learn safeguarding, behaviour management and assessment-related tasks.

Applicants must hold GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade 5/C or above. The apprenticeship starts on 16 November 2025, runs for 1 year 6 months and offers progression opportunities once qualified. To apply, sign in with a GOV.
