Smallpeice Trust (Arkwright Engineering Scholarships)
Apply NowReady to level up your engineering future? Join the two-year Arkwright Scholarship programme to gain mentoring, funded enrichment and industry exposure, build skills for uni or degree apprenticeships, and strengthen your STEM applications.
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, run by the Smallpeice Trust, are a two-year programme that identifies, inspires and supports high-potential young people aged 16 6-8 preparing to leave school and progress into engineering, computing or technical design. The scholarship provides mentoring, funded enrichment and real-world exposure designed to strengthen applications for university or degree apprenticeships and to accelerate development in STEM pathways.
Scholars receive access to a named engineering mentor, exclusive in-person and virtual STEM events with partner companies and universities, and a financial award to support STEM-related activities. Fully sponsored scholars receive a £250 grant (stated on the page) for the scholarship period to help cover materials, travel to events or independent project costs.
The programme also offers a Virtual Arkwright Scholarship Pathway to widen access for students across the UK. Entry is via nomination: your school or youth community organisation must be registered with the Arkwright programme and nominate eligible students.
The page gives typical year guidance for nomination (Year 11 in England and Wales, S4 in Scotland, Year 12 in Northern Ireland) and emphasises the programmes focus on students aiming for engineering, computing or technical-design progression.
£250 per year
Fully sponsored scholars will receive a £250 grant for both years of the scholarship. This is a financial award to spend on STEM-related activities including buying material, travel to events, or funding independent projects.
