Use specialised software on short research projects and see what scientists do day to day during this four-day placement. You could also use telescopes overseas, visit the Planetarium, and spend time with the Education Team and PhD students.
This work experience placement gives secondary school students a chance to see what research scientists do in practice and to gain hands-on experience using specialised software on short projects. The placement can also include opportunities such as using telescopes overseas, a visit around the Planetarium, and time with AOP’s Education Team and PhD students.
The programme runs over four days, Tuesday to Friday, and is designed for students who are genuinely interested in the work of the observatory and planetarium and are willing to learn. AOP also explains university pathways and what university life is like in practice, making this a strong option for students considering science-related study or careers.
Applications require a cover letter and a current CV.
