Apply NowFancy testing your problem‑solving? Join ASEEDER's Senior Mathematical Challenge (8 Oct 2026) — a 90-minute online contest to build mathematical reasoning across geometry, number theory and combinatorics, sharpen problem-solving skills and boost your uni/cv prospects. Apply by 24 Sept.
The Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC) is a UKMT mathematics competition promoted by ASEEDER for high-school students. The SMC encourages mathematical reasoning and fluency across topics such as geometry, number theory, combinatorics and problem solving without requiring advanced university-level mathematics.
The competition for 2026 will be held online on 8 October 2026 and lasts 90 minutes. The test is individual and comprises 25 multiple-choice questions in English, with a scoring system that starts at 25 points, awards 4 points for each correct answer and deducts 1 point for each incorrect answer.
Eligibility is limited to students in Grade 12 / Year 13 and below. Awards are given to the top-scoring 66% of participants in Gold:Silver:Bronze ratio 1:2:3; 2025 example cut-offs were Gold 72+, Silver 57+, Bronze 46+.
Registration carries a fee (covers exam administration, grading, proctoring, past papers and certificates); ASEEDER does not provide training. Registration deadline is two weeks before the competition.
Regional contact details for various China regions are provided on the site for support and enquiries.
