Research local issues, write press releases and help answer constituents’ queries by phone or email while seeing how an MP’s office works. You may also accompany the MP to meetings or events in the House or constituency.
Ashley Fox offers work experience opportunities for students from the constituency who want to gain first-hand insight into local politics. The placement is designed to help young people build their skills while learning how an MP’s office works in practice.
Students may be involved in a range of office and political tasks, including researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, and answering queries from constituents by phone or email. Depending on the student's age and ability, there may also be opportunities to help with casework.
The placement may also include accompanying the MP to meetings or events in the House or in the constituency, giving students a broader understanding of political life and public service. Interested students should contact the office to enquire about work experience opportunities.
