Access Aston is a one-day transition event for future Aston University students who have a disability or neurodiversity. It is designed to help incoming students feel confident, prepared and supported as they move from school, college or employment into university life.
The day includes talks from Aston’s Disability and Neurodiversity Support team, Learning Services, Student Finance and other student support services. There are also opportunities to hear about assistive technology, inclusive resources, academic skills support, the Students’ Union, advocacy, and Disabled Students’ Allowance.
Alongside the talks, attendees can join drop-in support sessions, take part in taster sessions for peer support and student social groups, meet other students, and join campus tours. Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan meetings are also available where needed, making the event especially useful for students who want to plan ahead for their arrival on campus.
