Atlas Summer Courses Mathematics is an Oxford-based summer programme for ambitious 16-17-year-olds who want to deepen their understanding of mathematical theory and sharpen their problem-solving skills. It is designed for students who enjoy thinking rigorously, going beyond basic calculations, and learning how to apply mathematical ideas to real-world problems.
Teaching is tutorial-style and highly personalised, with small seminars and independent work supported by expert tutors. Students complete pieces of work that are reviewed in 1:1 or 2:1 tutorials, where they receive detailed academic feedback, discuss ideas in depth, and build confidence in mathematical reasoning.
The course also supports independent learning and critical thinking through discussion-based classes. Alongside the academic content, students experience Oxford’s collegiate environment, visit different colleges, hear from expert speakers, and take part in a university fair to explore future pathways.
By the end of the programme, participants receive a certificate of completion and a tutor-written letter of recommendation.
