Design and develop your own structures through workshops, group critiques and independent tasks in an academic setting at Oxford colleges. Explore architecture’s history, materials, sustainability and human needs, then take part in excursions linked to Oxford’s architectural heritage.
Atlas Summer Courses Architecture Summer School is an award-winning summer programme for ages 13 to 15, hosted at colleges of the University of Oxford. The course is designed for ambitious students who want to explore architecture through creative thinking, design principles and practical project work in an inspiring academic setting.
Students study the history and theory of architecture while also gaining hands-on experience in designing and developing their own structures. The course looks at contemporary architectural trends, the impact of materials and layout on how buildings function, and the relationship between architecture, culture, sustainability and human needs.
Teaching is flexible and tailored to the interests of each group rather than following a fixed curriculum.
Learning takes place in small groups with seminars, workshops, group critiques and independent tasks. Students also take part in a wider social and cultural programme in Oxford, including excursions linked to the city’s architectural heritage.
Accommodation and meal options vary by tier, and all students receive a certificate on completion.
